Permission denied

Fix scope/permission errors encountered during edits or imports.

Symptom

  • Error mentions missing permission or access denied.

Likely causes

  • App lacks the required Shopify scope (e.g., write_products).
  • Store staff account lacks required admin permissions.
  • Object is not editable in its current state (e.g., archived).

Steps to fix

  1. Reinstall or reauthorize the app if scopes changed recently.
  2. Ask a store owner to confirm your staff permissions in Shopify admin.
  3. Ensure the target products/variants are not archived and are editable.
  4. Retry the action; if it persists, contact support.

Prevention

  • Review the permissions requested during install and share with store owners.

What to send support

  • Your shop domain, job ID (if applicable), and the exact error message.

Next steps

  • Double-check app permissions in Shopify Admin → Apps → Bulk Editor → About.
  • Confirm your staff account has the needed product permissions; ask a store owner to reassign if not.
  • Retry the job and capture the error banner + Job History screenshot.
