Manage product tags in bulk

Add or remove tags across many products at once.

When to use

• Prepare collections or campaigns.
• Normalize messy tag sets.

Prerequisites

• A precise filter to target the right products.

Steps

1. Open Bulk Edit → apply a product filter (see the Filters & search guide for examples like vendor + product type combos).
2. Choose field: Tags.
3. Select action:
   • Add tags: type tags separated by commas, or use a pattern with variables
   • Remove tags: choose tags to remove or enter names
4. Pattern Support: Enable "Use pattern" to generate dynamic tags using variables like [PRODUCT_PREFIX], [VARIANT_OPTION1], [COLLECTION_PREFIX], etc. The Pattern basics guide walks through recipes before the full reference list.
5. Click Preview and confirm examples look correct.
6. Run the edit and review progress in Job History.

Rollback

Use Job History → Rollback to replay the stored “before” tags. Tags are fully supported (case-insensitive) and listed in the rollback coverage table.

Tips & limits

• Tags are case-insensitive in Shopify; preview to catch duplicates.
• Keep tag sets small and consistent for better collection rules.
