Job stuck or slow
Learn why jobs can pause or slow down and how to resolve it.
Symptom
- Job shows “Queued”, “Running” with little progress, or seems paused.
Likely causes
- Shopify API rate limiting (common on large edits).
- Very large scope (tens of thousands of variants).
- Network hiccups; retries in progress.
- Store-side constraints (e.g., draft/archive state).
Steps to fix
- Wait a few minutes — large edits are processed in batches to respect rate limits.
- Reduce scope and re-run:
- Narrow filters to smaller batches (e.g., 1–2k variants).
- Split by vendor or product type.
- Confirm your Shopify store is not under heavy load (apps, theme tasks).
- If the job stalls for >20 minutes with no progress:
- Cancel the job if possible, then re-run with smaller scope.
- Contact support with the job ID.
Prevention
- Always preview and estimate size; batch large edits.
- Avoid running multiple large edits simultaneously.
What to send support
- Your shop domain, job ID, screenshot of the Job History, and the filters used.
Next steps
- Open Job history & rollback to confirm whether the job is still running or needs a retry.
- If you’re rate-limited, follow the batching tips in Rate-limited edits.
- Rebuild the job with narrower filters from the Filters & search guide or split by vendor/type.
