Manage variants in bulk ​

Add/delete/edit variants and update variant fields (SKU, barcode, options, price) at scale.

When to use ​

  • Standardize variant options or SKUs.
  • Add missing variants (new sizes/colors) or clean up duplicates.

Prerequisites ​

  • Use filters to target the correct products/variants.

Steps ​

  1. Open Bulk Edit → filter to your target set (see the Filters & search guide for product vs variant scope tips).
  2. Choose field(s):
    • SKU, Barcode
    • Option values (the values assigned to option names such as Size or Color—for example change Size: Small to Size: Medium)
    • Price / compare-at price
    • Variant add/delete/edit (variant management)
  3. Choose how to change:
    • Set to a fixed value
    • Find and replace text (for SKU/Barcode/Options)
    • Pattern mode for SKUs/Barcodes: combine vendor/option/sequential variables. See the Pattern basics guide.
  4. Click Preview to validate changes (watch variant-level rows).
  5. Run the edit; large jobs run in batches to respect rate limits.

Rollback ​

Use Job History → Rollback to revert supported variant changes (SKU, barcode, price/compare-at, options, and variant add/delete/edit), as long as the job is within your plan’s rollback window. See the rollback coverage table for details.

Tips & limits ​

  • Changing options can affect variant uniqueness; preview carefully.
