Billing & usage limits

Understand how the Shopify Bulk Editor bills and what happens when you reach the usage cap.

Free trial

All plans include a 14-day free trial. When you install the app, select the plan that fits your needs and approve the subscription. You won't be charged during the trial period. If you decide the app isn't for you, uninstall before the trial ends and you won't be charged.

Tracking your usage

  • Open Usage in the app sidebar to see:
    • Current plan.
    • % of usage consumed this billing cycle.
    • Estimated jobs/variants remaining before hitting the cap.
  • You can queue multiple jobs; throughput depends on plan (most plans process 1 job at a time, Advanced can process up to 5 concurrently).
  • History window for rollback/duplicate: how many days back your plan allows rollback/duplicate before tasks become read-only (they remain in Task History until you delete them).
  • The Create job flow also shows a warning banner when you're within ~10% of the cap.
  • Store owners receive an email when the usage meter crosses the cap so they can upgrade or wait for the reset date.

What happens at the cap?

  1. Jobs in progress finish, but no new jobs can start.
  2. Attempting to run or import a job redirects you to Usage with a message explaining the cap and an Upgrade CTA.
  3. You can still filter, preview, and export data so you can prep for later.

To resume editing immediately, upgrade to a higher plan. Otherwise, the cap resets automatically at the start of the next billing cycle (shown in the Usage card).

Upgrading

  1. Open Usage or Settings → Billing inside the app.
  2. Click Upgrade and pick the plan you want (Starter / Standard / Advanced).
  3. Shopify displays a confirmation screen; approve the charge.
  4. Shopify returns you to the app and your new plan is active immediately.

Shopify handles billing proration and receipts. You can cancel anytime from Shopify Admin → Settings → Billing → App charges.

Downgrading or cancelling

  • Cancel the subscription via Shopify Admin → Billing.
  • If you cancel, the app will require you to select a new plan to continue using it.
  • Any jobs already in progress finish; you can export your data or complete outstanding tasks before the subscription ends.

Reinstalling after uninstall

If you uninstall and reinstall the app:

  • Your previous subscription is automatically cancelled by Shopify when you uninstall.
  • On reinstall, you'll need to select a plan and approve charges again before using the app.
  • If you reinstall during your original trial period, you may still have trial days remaining.

Usage troubleshooting

  • "Upgrade required" but you just upgraded: Refresh the app or reopen Usage to force a billing re-check. If it persists, email support with your shop URL.
  • Unexpected charges: Shopify invoices may show prorated amounts if you upgraded mid-cycle. Check Shopify Billing > App charges for line-item details.
  • Need more headroom: Contact support with your expected volume; we can recommend batching strategies or discuss higher tiers.
